Phones 4 Stroke Group
When I get home from my various meetings, I'm delighted to find in my council post a cheque for £450 from the council, for Harlow Stroke Support Group. The council has recently renegotiated its mobile phone contracts, and any redundant handsets have been collected and recycled for cash, with the money going towards my nominated charity. Well done and thank you, Harlow Council staff - the Stroke Support Group will I know make excellent use of the money.

From one Harlow Blogger to another, just thought I'd say how much I enjoyed reading your posts. Did not realise a local councillors day was so varied.
Thank you very much for your kind comment, and for taking the time to read my blog.
Yes, a local councillor's day can be very varied - and though it has its frustrations, it can be a very rewarding role to carry out.
In addition to the civic role as chairman that I write about in this blog, there is of course all the other casework, ward-based and political activity that councillors get involved in, not to mention the local organisations they come into contact with.
It's a great way to find out more about your community, and to make a contribution.
I've just found your music blog, and read the first few entries - I will add it to my favourites. I wish I'd been able to switch on the Christmas lights in Harlow on 17 November, as I should have done - unfortunately it was a time when I had to be at (my paid) work, so my deputy did it for me. Otherwise I'd have seen you there.
